Brooklyn Boulevard Between 49th Avenue and Highway 100

Starting Thursday, August 23, 2018 through approximately November 2018, reconstruction of Brooklyn Boulevard (CR 152) between 49th Avenue and Highway 100 will require lane restrictions to complete street reconstruction and streetscape improvements. The City of Brooklyn Center will be leading this work, in coordination with Hennepin County.
One travel lane in each direction will be maintained during the construction, but delays should be expected. Generally, access to residences and businesses within the project area will be open during construction activities unless impacted by specific work. Any of these closures will be coordinated with the local residences and businesses.
In addition, the City will be making improvements on 51st Avenue between Brooklyn Boulevard and Xerxes Avenue in late 2018 as part of this project.
Road construction projects can present challenges for residents, businesses and visitors in and around the project limits. Traffic controls are put in place for the safety of the commuters and the workers. Please use caution when travelling though the project work areas, keep speeds to posted limits, stay alert for signs and follow any posted detour routes.
The reconstruction and streetscape improvements on Brooklyn Boulevard will improve roadway safety and enhance traffic operations by reduce access points, improving the functionality of intersections and provide improved bicycle and pedestrian facilities for the corridor. The project will enhance bicycle and pedestrian travel by adding a trail, improving sidewalks and transit stops. The project will also be adding streetscaping and landscaping. Reconstruction of the Brooklyn Boulevard (CR 152) from Highway 100 to just north of Bass Lake Road (CR 10) will be completed in 2019.
