Traffic Impacts on Local Streets
The City of Brooklyn Center is expecting significant traffic that will divert to local streets due to the closure of southbound Trunk Highway 252 at I-694. While Mn/DOT has posted a detour with other regional notifications to use alternate routes, our local City streets are expected to be impacted. City staff is looking at retiming certain traffic signal systems and other temporary traffic control to help address any safety or delay issues. However, due to the need to continue local traffic connectivity and for adequate emergency services, we are not anticipating any roadway closures in response to increased traffic levels. Your patience throughout the duration of Mn/DOT's project is appreciated and please contact us with any concerns or safety issues.
